@CactuarJoe was it terrible? YES. The worst of the year? Not even close
Okay, I did like those two (2) frames of tentacle-headed monster from outer space
And Yog-Sothoth fucks off back into the transdimensional spaces from whence he came. Well, that sure was a movie!
Thanks @Taweret for hosting.
A/I may be ending. The story is nowhere near over.
For twenty-five years, #AutisticiInventati showed what it could mean for movements to build and control their own communications infrastructure. Its loss should not send everyone searching for the next single service to replace it.
It should send us looking in a hundred directions.
In Boise, the Boise Autonomous Solidarity Hub is experimenting with one of them. @BASH has put a small independent publication on NomadNet, a system running over Reticulum rather than relying solely on the conventional web. It has articles, archives, submissions and contact functions, reachable through a cryptographic network destination instead of an ordinary domain.

That is not the answer. That's what makes it interesting.
Other projects are trying other things: cooperative infrastructure, self-managed servers, RSS, mirrors, print, radio, downloadable archives, federated publishing and networks that barely resemble the commercial web at all.
We don't need to find another A/I. We need to understand how to build a thousand different pieces of what made A/I possible.
Sabot is beginning a living guide to autonomous media and infrastructure, aimed especially at small and rural projects: how to publish, archive, distribute, host, mirror and keep going when a platform, host, domain, provider or collective disappears.

Follow the people experimenting. Follow small radical media. Preserve what matters.
Then build something.
so now the psychopath in charge wants to rename New Mexico to New America.
And he claims we hold dominion over the moon.
At what point do we say enough is enough?

Today is #diday the Digital Independence Day. You know what we still need? A European alternative to US tech messaging apps like WhatsApp or Signal!
And that is #matrix and this is why we make #fluffychat 💪
"By any means necessary" is so not a radical stance in 2026, it is exactly the stance of the people whose ideas you oppose.
You're not "anti-imperial", you're "anti-emperor", and there is a difference, and it shows.
@GeePawHill
Yes. I wonder, though, how to win within the rules against a player who breaks the rules. I do understand the righteous feeling that at leastwe didn't break the rules ... but how can we get unfucked within the rules against those who have no rules?
I once saw a little indie horror movie where you never see the "monster", only ever its POV, which was very well done. This is not that movie

Thinking about the garden today, and how the chiles have been the most successful and have brought me the most happiness this year. 🌶️😊
Also been thinking about those things that I keep trying to grow, but which don’t ever work out very well. It’s time to say goodbye to those and maybe try some new things. I’d like more of a happy Bob Ross kinda garden that feels less of a chore, especially as summers keep getting hotter and drier. 🪴🎨
It’s an apocalyptic day for night, and you are a horrible goose #monsterdon
Interesting take from the CTO of Bluesky
@dansup before I got hired to Mastodon I was considering Bluesky. The more I see these sorts of things, the happier I am that it all worked out the way it did

"Mystifizierte Frauenfiguren wie Maria [...] prägen bis heute unser Verständnis davon was es heißt Mutter zu sein. Allein die Unvereinbarkeit von Jungfräulichkeit und Mutterschaft zeigt, welchem absurden Frauenbild die bis heute gestellten Erwartungen an Mütter entspringen." 🤔
Sophia Fritz (2024). Toxische Weiblichkeit.
Rodger Corman was the progenitor of "Don't show the monster", today a popular position in horror movie project (mostly because...he couldn't afford to.)

I just noticed that our IDs display our birthdates under a blacklight so now all of my high school stoner friends are going to know how old I am.
@Alice This whole feature had to have been thought up by a stoner. “Dude . . .”
